On September 26, 1973, President Richard Nixon signed the Rehabilitation Act, including Section 504, into law. Although the law was passed, it was almost five years later before the U.S Department of Education promulgated regulations implementing the law. The Section 504 education regulations can be found here.
On May 6th, the Department’s Office of Civil Rights requested public comments on Section 504 regulations, which it proposed to use in updating and amending the regulations. Instructions for submitting comments and the announcement from the Department may be found here. Before the amending process is complete, the Department will again open the regulations for public comment.
No specific closing date has been announced but it likely will be June 30, 2022. So if you are interested in commenting on the regulations, do so by that date. Send your comments to Section504@ed.gov.

Do you know when the public comment period ends? I didn’t see a date on the announcement site.
Thanks!
